Community Assessment Training Program (CATP)
The Community Assessment Training Program is an opportunity offered to students who would benefit from receiving specialized instruction in vocational skills and on the job readiness. In the program, students learn valuable work-readiness skills while discovering their interests and strengths and earning elective credit. Students are assigned to a work site in the Milwaukee-area where they work closely with an MPS site teacher and employees at the site. The site teacher works closely with each student to ensure they are challenged and regularly accomplishing attainable, work-related goals. Transferable social and behavioral skills are taught and modeled to students daily. CATP is a unique learning experience that has impacted and helped shape the futures of many Reagan students.
On the Job Training (OJT)
After successful completion of one or more semesters of CATP, many students are given the opportunity to continue in OJT, which involves a more independent and paid work assignment, but still under the supervision of an MPS site teacher. Students continue to develop in taking initiative, self-management, a variety of vocational and transferable skills, and appropriate social behaviors in the workplace. Success at the workplace becomes a point of pride for students, as they realize their interests and workplace potential. Several Reagan students have been offered jobs at their work sites after successful completion of their OJT semester.
